A NEW headteacher has been appointed to take over when a school says goodbye to its long-serving head next year.
Tony Smith will be leaving Dartford Grammar School in West Hill, Dartford, next year after completing 23 years as the school’s headteacher.
John Oakes, who has been at the boys’ school since 2001, will replace Mr Smith.
Mr Oakes has been at Dartford Grammar School since 2001 and is currently the head of school.
Mr Oakes’ role includes deputising for Mr Smith when he is carrying out other duties.
Mr Oakes said: “I am totally dedicated to supporting the full life of the school and to providing a broad and rich range of enrichment opportunities for the whole school community.”
