A CHARITY which raises money to enable disabled anglers to go fishing has won £10,000 Lottery cash.
Pads Army is named after its founder Paddy Timms who lives on the Hurst Lane estate in Woolwich Road, Abbey Wood.
It raises cash to build platforms which allow disabled anglers to have safe and comfortable wheelchair access to fishing lakes.
So far its activities have centred on Monks Lake in Staplehurst, Kent, where it has already created a number of platforms.
It is also hoping to buy a van to transport equipment to and from the lakes.
The charity says the successful Awards for All Lottery bid is down to Mr Timms, who spent hours filling in the forms and attending meetings.
He said: “My bedroom has been my office and sometimes it has been quite a mess. I am very glad I have an understanding wife.”
The charity plans five fundraising fishing matches next year and hopes to promote its activities at a number of community events such as the Erith Riverside Festival and Danson Festival.
