A SECOND Erith pub has been given another chance after being caught twice selling alcohol to underage teenagers.
The licence of the Style and Winch, Northend Road, Erith, has been reviewed by a Bexley Council licensing sub-committee after an application by Bexley police.
The sub-committee heard a barman at the pub paid an £80 penalty notice after serving two 16-year-olds who made a test purchase in March.
Despite licensee Christopher Ludlam agreeing to measures to try and stop underage sales, in July two more teenage test purchasers were again able to buy alcohol, and the son of the licensee paid an £80 penalty notice.
Mr Ludlam and his wife Tracey, who have run the pub since 1992 and been tenants for the past five years, admitted the sales had been serious errors of judgment by staff.
They have now introduced a Challenge 25 system and all the pub staff have been retrained.
The licensing sub-committee included the measures among other new conditions on the pub’s licence.
