FIREFIGHTERS ran to the scene when a driver hit a lamppost near New Cross fire station.
The motorist, who is believed to be in her 30s, was trapped in her silver Vauxhall Corsa and had to be cut out by crews using specialist cutting equipment at around 6am today (October 29).
It took them around 30 minutes to free the woman who was conscious but complaining of head and abdominal injuries.
She was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
Traffic was disrupted in the area because the lamp post fell right across Queens Road and had to be removed.
Crews from New Cross and Peckham and a rescue unit from Lewisham attended and were there for around an hour.
