The ladies amongst us seem to have little problem with their perfumes, having a particular favourite and then a host of others hanging around as a back-up. Ask them what their favourite perfume is, and you’ll get a speedy and unequivocal answer. But what about when it comes to us blokes………
We never seem to be 100% sure about our aftershave. Is it the right one for me? I think it smells nice, but does anyone else? Does it ‘clash with my style’ or something? Indeed, should I wear an aftershave at all?
Aftershave seems to be one of those guy things that we just latch onto. You get your first one as a teenager, then start listening to what the girls like (“Oooh, I love a man who wears…” and you rush to the shops to try and find it!), after a while you get to a point where you think you have something that you like, women like, and that’s it right?
Or is it?
So the question that needs to be answered is……………should us blokes wear an aftershave, and if so, which one? And are there any rules to follow when choosing?
Obviously there are certain universal rules - i.e. don't buy anything that's really, really cheap and don't get heavy-handed with it, as no-one should be able to smell you unless they're quite close to you (sorry, I had to mention these as there are still, unfortunately, an amazing number of blokes about who smell like they’ve come from an explosion at the Tommy bottling factory!).
My aftershave – it’s an oldie but a goodie (in my opinion!)……………Drakkar Noir.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to be sold in this country anymore and I have to get it when I go to France. Maybe there’s some truth to that rumour that the continentals have a tad more style than us after all!!!
