POLICE have started a murder investigation following the death of a three-month-old baby from Bexley at the weekend.
The baby boy was taken to a hospital in south London at 11.30pm on Friday (October 24) suffering from a serious head injury.
The child died the following day at Kings College Hospital in Denmark Hill.
Checks on the boy’s twin sister carried out after his death revealed she was recovering from injuries thought to have been caused by physical abuse.
The baby girl has been taken into police care.
A post mortem examination was conducted at the Princess Royal Hospital, Farnborough today (October 28).
Police await the results of further tests, but believe the baby died in suspicious circumstances.
- A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and GBH. And a woman in her 30s has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and allowing or causing the death of a child. They remain in custody.
