POLICE have some helpful safety tips for residents in the run up to Guy Fawkes night.
It is against the law to sell fireworks to those under 18, and for young people to carry them in public.
Throwing or setting them off in the street is also illegal.
Officers suggest only buying fireworks marked BS 7114 and keep them in a closed box before use.
They should be lit at arm's length, using a taper, then everyone should stand back.
Never put fireworks in your pocket or throw them, sparklers should not be given to children under five and pets should be kept indoors.
Bromley police’s Superintendent Matt Bell said: “We want people to be safe while out enjoying this autumn’s festivities without their fun being spoilt by a small number of troublemakers."
All 22 safer neighbourhood teams will be out patrolling on November 5.
