A PLAY about a polar bear and his melting home is touring the area's primary schools.
A Quest for Percy is being acted out in 22 schools around Lewisham and Deptford by actors from Montagna Education Productions and the Simple 8 Theatre Company.
The play, which teaches children about climate change, tells the story of Percy the polar bear whose home is melting.
It asks the audience to join the quest to save his habitat.
Writer and director of the play, Matthew Worwood, said: "I wanted to give youngsters the information they need to intrigue and stimulate them to go home and talk about how they can reduce their carbon footprint.”
Speaking after the play, Jake Hilliard, aged eight, of Lucas Vale School in Deptford, said: “I’m going to tell my mum and dad to buy a new telly because ours is really old and doesn’t switch off properly.”
