PLANS for an eco-friendly housing development have been submitted to Lewisham Council.
London property developer, Loromah Estates Ltd, is proposing 76 apartments on derelict land behind Tyson Road and Honor Oak Road in Forest Hill.
Building features would include photovoltaic cells, used to convert sunlight into electricity, and ground-source heat pumps which use energy stored underground to heat homes.
A woodland floor landscape, a rain garden, bird and bat boxes, and special habitat for stag beetles would also be installed to encourage wildlife to the area.
Loromah Estates’ project director, Stuart Cunliffe, said: “All the proposed buildings would have green or living roofs, some of which would form wild flower meadows.
"The top-most roof of each building would be a brown roof, specifically designed to encourage habitation by native wildlife.”
The plans will be considered by the council's planning committee.
