Last week I posted a blog entitled ‘When it comes to the crunch, who would you like to punch?’. This produced a fair spread of names, most of them who fell into the category of being either plain nasty, slimy, smarmy, arrogant, self-righteous, or simply crooked (or all of the aforementioned in the case of Peter Mandelson).

However, one name was thrown into the ring which I felt was quite out of place amongst this obnoxious lot – Dannii Minogue. And to make things far worse, poor Dannii was nominated by a lady (take a bow, puss in boots!).

Now in my view, young Dannii comes in for far too much unwarranted abuse – witness just a couple of weeks ago a vitriolic attack by Noel Gallagher of all people! And this isn’t just a one off, it’s pretty constant in the media. Mention the poor young lady’s name in conversation and a tirade of abuse will normally follow.

Well, it’s time to stop! Dannii may not have had the musical success of her sister, Kylie, but she’s no talentless failure. She’s a successful singer, songwriter, actress, television personality, model and fashion designer in her own right - not a bad little haul, and one her critics give her little credit for! For pity’s sake, in her acting career the good lady has even trodden the boards and undertaken one of the most demanding and sought after Shakespearian roles, that of Lady MacBeth. That deserves respect, if nothing else! So let’s lay off young Dannii and give her the respect she’s due.

I’ll leave the final word to the great lady herself – “I'm not going to please everyone. If I worried about what people thought, I'd still be living in Australia and I never would have tried anything”.

Well, almost the final word. As it’s my blog I’ll have the final word – as well as being incredibly talented Dannii’s also very pleasant on the eye and she’s far sexier than her sister!
