Thamesmead's roller-coaster form took at turn for the better, with a league win against Maldon town.
Mead started the game brightly, and unusually for The Mead, had the best of the opening ten minutes with Brown firing just over the bar from a knock down corner and Cable having an effort smothered from 6 yards.
After this early flurry,Thaesmead seemed to lose some of their passing game as Maldon emerged through the willingness of their no7 Ross Parmenter. Their front two, West and Robinson, were working well together and were causing Watts and Coburn some problems , but no further goalmouth action of note took place before the break.
Again in the second half Mead took the early initiative, forcing Maldon back in their area, playing good passing football. In the 51st minute, with Mead's triangular passing around the 6 yard area, Cable finally put the closing Maldon players out of their misery, firing into the net for the opening goal.
There did not appear to be any response from Maldon to going behind, and on 66 minutes they substituted twice, to change things around, but in truth nothing seemed to be really disturbing the back four, with Merriden especially, now willing to create overlaps down the wing for Mead.
Entertaining as the passing play was, the next chance came from a route one kick from Woodward in goal, that Maldon did not deal with, allowing Wood to dart in and lob the stranded keeper, but unfortunately it just went over the bar.
However Wood was to amend himself on 81 mins when put through he carmly slotted the ball pass the keeper for 2-0. Thamesmead then made a succession of substitutes and saw the game out for their second home win of the season.
