1929 – TW Evans, of Miami, USA, became the first woman to give birth aboard an aircraft.
2000 – It emerged that officials in California had welcomed a delegation of Filipino businessmen with a banner that was intended to read Welcome Filipinos. Unfortunately a translation problem meant the sign read Circumcise Filipinos.
2001 – Representatives from Lego travelled to New Zealand to defend their use of traditional Maori ideas in the latest Lego range.
