STUDENTS have decorated a youth centre to “show there are some young people who want to improve their community”.
A group of 10 pupils on a Prince’s Trust course in Lower Road, Northfleet, spent the last two weeks revamping the social area of Miracles Youth Centre in Windsor Road, Gravesend.
The group of 16 to 25-year-olds painted, what they called, the “horrible terracotta” coloured walls bright blue and then created graffiti designs over the top.
They raised £600 to buy materials for painting by bag-packing at Morrisons supermarket in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, on October 16 and 17.
Student Stephanie Staunton said: “The area is quite rundown so we wanted to rejuvenate the youth centre for the young people so they have somewhere nice to get together with friends.”
The 20-year-old added: “We also wanted to show there are some young people who want to improve their community.”
