A FATHER-OF-TWO is set to take part in a world record-breaking cricket match 17,000 feet up Mount Everest.
Former TA volunteer Gregory Dickson, 34, will join 49 others in a bid to break the record for the highest field sport ever played.
The expedition aims to raise £250,000 for charities Sports Relief and Sir Edmund Hillary’s Himalayan Trust.
Mr Dickinson, of Windsor Drive, Orpington, will take part in the April expedition as a trained first aider and mountain rescue leader.
The marketing manager explained: “We need to be trained to administer oxygen as it is so difficult to breathe at 17,000 feet.
“It will be like playing cricket while breathing through a straw.”
He added: “To succeed in this we are going to have to be in the best physical fitness of our lives.
“I’m training the hardest I have ever done and although I’m excited I am beginning to get nervous as the date gets closer.”
As part of his training he is cycling every day, running in his lunch hour and swimming.
