TALENTED young people will be showcasing their skills in a one-off event to celebrate a theatre’s 40th birthday.

Hundreds of students from secondary schools across Gravesham have taken part in auditions in the hope of being selected to star in Gifted Young Gravesham, which takes place at 7.30pm on November 15 at Woodville Halls, Windmill Street, Gravesend.

Judges selected a total of 28 acts which included street dancers, bands, jugglers, singers and even a teenage classical pianist.

The event is held in partnership with Gravesham Council, Kent County Council’s Youth Service and the West Kent Primary Care Trust.

Youngsters will also be behind the scenes managing and organising the event with guidance from youth workers.

Cabinet member for communities Councillor David Turner said: “This is an opportunity to see some of the best young talent Gravesham has to offer.

“It will be a fantastic event showcasing some of the borough’s potential future stars.”
