A NON-SELECTIVE Bexley school is celebrating getting its first student into an Oxbridge university.
Hayley King, 19, of Dorset Avenue, Welling, has become Blackfen School for Girls’ first Oxford student.
After achieving three A Level grade As in biology, chemistry and maths, she is now off to study biological sciences at Magdalen College, Oxford.
Hayley is the first in her family to go to university.
Her mother Denise said: “Obviously, the whole family is incredibly proud. Her achievement is well deserved for the amount of work she put into her studies.”
Hayley attended an Oxbridge open day last year and decided she had nothing to lose by applying.
She said: “The college is a beautiful place and I know there will be lots of people in the same situation as me.”
Blackfen’s headteacher Matthew Brown said: “We are honoured to have had Hayley as a student.”
