PLANS to build 11 new homes on land at the back of houses in Belvedere have been rejected because the proposed access was considered too dangerous.
Developer Classgrade wanted to build the homes for Broomleigh Housing Association behind Swaylands Road, with access from Parsonage Manorway.
Bexley Council’s planning control committee had previously expressed its unhappiness with the access and the developer went away to try to satisfy councillors’ concerns.
The proposal was to use the current access to a block of residents’ garages, which is unlit, barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass and has no footway.
Classgrade came back to the committee with proposals to create a footway along most of the proposed access road, except for the first 10m, so cars would not have to wait in Parsonage Manorway for a vehicle coming out of the road.
But councillors considered this could be even more dangerous and refused the application.
