IT WAS time for some community fun when St Michael’s Church in Upper Wickham Lane, Welling, celebrated its 75th birthday.
The church laid on a free celebration and invited all of its neighbours to join in.
Opened by an Elvis lookalike who doubled as the DJ for the rest of the day, there were sideshows, competitions, displays of dance and martial arts, live music, a dog training display and a talent show.
There was also the chance for people to see a display of old photos and parish records inside the church.
The church moved in 1933 to its current location while the original St Michael’s Church, which dates back to the 13th Century, was converted into a Greek Orthodox church in 1969.
