A TROUPE of cheerleaders helped bank staff cash in on generous customers during a Grease-themed fundraiser.

Staff at the Halifax bank in High Street, Bromley, dressed as T-Birds and Pink Ladies from the famous musical and invited the Gem cheerleading group, based in Hayes, to help them raise more money.

The sponsored fancy dress and cheerleading routine helped staff raise £400 for Age Concern, Diabetes UK and children’s charity CLIC Sargent.

Cashier at the bank Nicole Yuill (corr) helped to organise the event on October 18.

She said: “The staff made a huge effort this year and considering we only raised £26 last year it was great achievement.

“Loads of the staff were wearing pink wigs and jackets and I don’t think we have ever made such an effort before.”

Bank bosses will match the staff’s fundraising efforts and so £800 will be donated to the in-house Giving Extra charity campaign.
