SCHOOL governors have been recognised at an awards ceremony.
For 10 years’ continuous service, 48 governors were given certificates by Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock.
And five more governors were awarded for serving 25 years.
This is the fourth Governors Awards Ceremony that Lewisham Council has organised in order to celebrate the contribution of the community in the success of Lewisham’s schools.
Currently there are approximately 1,400 volunteer school governors serving in the borough.
Congratulating the winners, Sir Steve said: “Lewisham owes a great deal to these long-serving school governors, each of whom has devoted a huge amount of their free time supporting their school and helping Lewisham’s children and young people get the best from their education.”
The event, at Bromley Court Hotel, Bromley, was held on October 9.
