A SCHOOL celebrated its 50 year anniversary with a host of fun activities and events.
Students and staff at the Grammar School for Girls Wilmington in Parsons Lane, planned a week long programme of events celebrating the school’s opening in 1958.
The girls and their teachers dressed up in outfits to reflect the five decades of the school’s existence.
The current school curriculum was abandoned for an afternoon and all lessons were taught with a 1950s theme.
Former students were invited back to join the events and the girls also enjoyed a traditional 1950s school lunch of cottage pie, cabbage and carrots.
To take part in the celebrations the girls donated money which will be given to the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Headteacher, Maggie Bolton said: “We are very proud of what the school has achieved over the last 50 years.
“All the girls really entered into the spirit of the occasion.”
