A SCHOOL has been celebrating the official opening of its new community room.
More than 360 pupils from South Rise Primary School in Brewery Road, Greenwich, were treated to a performance by African drummer, Justin Fellows, as they opened the £18,000 room on October 16.
The students, aged seven to 11, will use the room for cooking classes, family learning and lunchtime clubs, while it will also be used as a toddler group one morning a week.
School learning support worker, Jenny McKerrell, who helped organise the opening celebrations, said: "It will be of great benefit to both the pupils and the community.
"The children had a great time singing along and playing with the drummer, and they are looking forward to making good use of the new facility."
