STUDENTS in Kent took part in a pumpkin competition in the run up to Halloween.
Two students from Longfield Academy in Main Road, won the prize for the ugliest pumpkin.
Josh Lockwood, 13 and Kieran Murray, 14 grew their own pumpkin in a tyre using compost.
Shelley Bennett, clerical assistant at Longfield Academy said: “The judges commented that they were no doubt the winners with their shrivelled and strange looking pumpkin.”
Seven schools across Kent took part in the eco-schools pumpkin challenge, which was organised by Kent County Council.
The competition took place on October 10 at Hunton School in Yalding.
Other catergories included the largest and best tasting pumpkin.
The students from Longfield Academy said they thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and were really pleased to win the catergory.
They were awarded with a gardening book,more pumpkin seeds and a framed certificate.
