FOR the past 25 years, a Bexley secondary school has been upholding the tradition of sharing the year’s harvest of food.
This year 100 pensioners were the guests at Blackfen School for Girls, Blackfen Road, Blackfen, to help celebrate its harvest festival.
They were served sandwiches, cake and tea by pupils who also provided the afternoon’s entertainment.
Bexley mayor Councillor Nick O’Hare also dropped in for a cuppa and to have a chat.
At the end of the event, each of the school’s guests went home with a parcel of foodstuffs provided by the girls.
Headteacher Matthew Brown said: “We are proud to host this event, which is an opportunity for people from the community to come together.”
He added: “It strengthens links between the older and younger generations and is a positive experience for everyone involved.”
