HISTORIC buildings will be open to the public for guided tours.
As part of Be a Local Tourist Day on Sunday, residents are invited to have a look around some of Eltham’s finest buildings.
Visitors can join in free tours of the 17th-Century Eltham Lodge in Court Road, which is now home to the Royal Blackheath Gold Club.
The Fire Station and St John the Baptist Church in Eltham High Street and The Bob Hope Theatre in Wythfield Road will also be open.
Greenwich residents can enjoy half-price entry to Eltham Palace — admission costs £4.10 for adults and £2.05 for children.
Greenwich Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, Councillor Peter Brooks, said: “Eltham is home to some of London’s best-kept secrets, and is an area steeped in the city’s history, having been King Henry VIII’s favourite stomping ground.
“This is a great opportunity for any resident to take full advantage of the amazing sights right on their doorstep.”
