A SCHOOL is celebrating after receiving an award for being environmentally friendly.
UK charity Encams, which promotes environmental causes, has given a green flag to Longfield Academy in Main Road, Longfield.
This recognises the school’s green projects, which include recycling, litter picking and creating a wildlife area on school grounds.
TV presenter and Encams ambassador Philippa Forrester visited the school on October 9 to present the green flag to staff and pupils.
Sixth-form student Nicole Everett, 17, said: “We are very excited to have been given this award especially as we are the only Secondary school in Kent to have achieved this.”
Encams awards the green flag to schools across the country that have made a big effort to improve the environment.
