A MULTIMILLION pound investment into post-16 education in Bromley has been approved by council bosses.
Bromley Council has agreed to invest £13million into its secondary schools over the next five years to avoid “costly rebuilds’ in the future.
The cash will be targeted at post-16 provision in schools around the borough, although the exact details of how the money will be shared out is not yet known.
Portfolio holder for children and young people, Councillor Ernest Noad, agreed the funding at a meeting on October 14.
Cllr Noad said: “Bromley is a high performing authority with a large number of the country’s most outstanding secondary schools.
“In order for us to continue this level of excellence and innovation among our students and their teachers, the bricks and mortar around them must also be maintained.
“This is spending to save money long-term by avoiding more costly rebuilds if nothing is done soon.”
