YOUNG gardeners got their hands dirty when they planted daffodil bulbs, while helping to raise money for a children’s hospital.
Breaside Preparatory School in Bromley invited all of its 250 pupils to make a £1 donation and plant a spring bulb in a bare flower bed as part of the Breaside in Bloom celebrations.
Cash raised from their planting exploits yesterday (Oct 14) will be donated equally to Great Ormond Street and the Friends of Breaside, a parent group which raises funds to support the school.
Headteacher Karen Nicholson said: “This is an extremely exciting time for us all with the new Breaside in Bloom project that the Friends of Breaside are undertaking to improve the visual impact of our grounds.
“This will benefit children, staff, parents and visitors to the school.”
The first Breaside in Bloom event helped the school in Orchard Road raise around £200.
