POLICE are appealing for information about thieves who stole copper cabling worth £100,000 after abducting its driver.
Thieves targeted a parked heavy goods lorry and its driver in Sandpit Road, Dartford, at around 11.15pm on September 30.
The driver was taken from his cab and driven to a location 10 miles away and then set free without injury.
During this time, the lorry and its load were taken and driven through the Dartford Crossing and into Essex.
The cab of the lorry was later found burnt out in a rural location near Brentwood. The trailer and load have not yet been recovered.
Detective Sergeant Cameron Riley from Kent Police is investigating the robbery. He said: “The reels of copper cable were clearly marked with the name of the company and are large and heavy to manoeuvre.”
“I would also urge anyone who saw a silver coloured saloon car or people acting suspiciously in the Sandpit Road area shortly before the lorry and its driver were targeted to get in touch.”
Anyone with information should call 01474 366091 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
