THEY were downing coffees as if the coffee bean was about to become extinct.
But the caffeine overdose was all in a good cause.
All over Bexley groups were taking part in the biggest coffee morning in the world to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Care.
Everyone from to vicars to Bexley mayor Councillor Nick O’Hare were supping away.
The Rev Jim Charles from St Peter’s Church, Pickford Lane, Bexleyheath, was chief coffee maker as his wife Katherine hosted her eighth event for the charity.
Cllr O’Hare was one of the many guests who helped raise more than £100.
At Danson bowls pavilion in Danson Park, Welling, the bowls club raised £670 at its coffee morning.
