Dreams…what do they mean???

Okay so, we all have our own understanding of dreams. As a child, I had this belief that dreams are opposites in reality. For example, if you are a bully in your dream, in reality it’s probably that you were bullied.

That belief has changed as I have grown up. At my age now, dreams for me have universal meaning. They have significance in reality.

One night, I dreamt that my sister was miserable, crying, because somebody wanted to kill her. The night after, she sent me a message telling me she was done with her boyfriend and that she was coming back home to us. Though she did not tell me the reason why, I knew they had a terrible fight and she was upset. So that came to me as the meaning of the dream I had about her.

But recently I came across an article and found out from today’s dream experts that thinking your dream has a universal meaning is a complete nonsense. Based on their research, dreams are our “subconscious’s way of communicating with us”. So a likely explanation for me is; what runs through our heads throughout the day awake, might still go on as we sleep – that is why we do dream.

These experts listed 5 most typical dreams we all likely to have and explained how we have got these dreams.

1) Being Chased. Dreams of being chased usually happen when we get an emotional or physical threat from a person (like a murderer, rapists, stalker) or a situation (like witnessing a crime or something evil).

2)Falling. These dreams of falling out of bed, off a cliff, or even stumbling are the most common and sometimes we’re awaken with a jolt. These are said to come from a day’s problems and being “down” or no emotional support.

3)Sexual Dreams. These dreams may come from a person’s desire (not necessarily sexual) of another person.

4)School Dreams. Students are usually the ones with these dreams – those of taking exams they never studied for are sort of nightmares to them. For grown ups, the dreams come from a feeling that their first test was in school and that feeling stays always.

5)Euphoria. The dreams of flying are thought by experts to come from our parents tossing us into the air when we were kids. But basically, these come from feeling of happiness and freedom in life.

So I’d like to know about any dreams that you have had recently, or ones that have made an impact on your life and why.
