A BURGLAR who got stuck in a window after trying to break into a home, has been jailed for three years.
John Pearce, of Browning Road, Dartford was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court yesterday (October 13) after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to one count of burglary.
The 32-year-old was found hanging upside down from a window after getting his foot caught, while trying to break into a house in Fulwich Road, Dartford on August 14.
He claimed that he was not stealing but had been trying to stop burglars.
Onlookers refused to help Pearce and police and paramedics eventually released him.
Detective Sergeant Mike Worrall, from Kent police, said: "This sentence is good news for the community in that such a prolific burglar is no longer a threat.
"Having been caught hanging literally upside-down from the window of the house he was attempting to break into, he was left with little choice but to admit his crime and take his punishment on the chin."
