YOUNG atheletes were invited to a reception to celebrate their win at the London Youth Games.
Bromley sports teams with players aged from 11 to 18 attended the event at the Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, Bromley to celebrate the borough’s overall win at the games in July for the second year in a row.
Stephanie King, 15, from Bromley High School for Girls, Blackbrook Lane, Bickley won three gold medals for swimming at the London Youth Games.
At the reception she spoke of her recent trip carrying the torch at the opening of the Paralympic Games in Beijing.
A speech was also given by Lesley Owusu, a 400m runner who competes internationally for Britain.
Bromley Council’s portfolio holder for Children and Young People, Councillor Ernest Noad, said: “As London is a world class city, it’s logical to suggest that Bromley’s young people are among the very best in the world.”
