A CHARITY which helps the elderly has been shortlisted to receive an award for its recycling efforts.
The Deptford Action Group for the Elderly (DAGE) has been chosen as a finalist for this year’s National Recycling Awards under the best high street retailer category.
DAGE runs two second-hand furniture shops in Deptford High Street and Evelyn Street, both in Deptford, and hopes the added exposure will generate more funding for the charity.
Charity chairman Harry Hayward said: “Being shortlisted for this award means we are going down the right road.
“It’s better to put old furniture in a proper place than just putting it in the bin.”
The awards are run by publishers Emap and the winners will be presented with a trophy at a ceremony at The International Centre, in Telford, on November 12.
