THE August meeting took the form of a garden party at the home of the chairman. Members enjoyed a splendid tea and then taxed their brains with a quiz. A raffle and a bring-and-buy stall helped to swell guild funds.
At last month’s meeting, the federation delegate gave details of forthcoming events. There is to be an arts and crafts show on October 29, a carol service in December, and next year a charity lunch in April, an outing to the Sussex coast in May, and the rally in July.
After tea, Guild Treasurer Iris Riley told of her wartime experiences as a member of the Women’s Royal Naval Service. The next meeting is on October 28 when Jo Smith will be talking about costumes.
