FLY-FISHING Rotarians from all corners of the district met at Lakedown Trout Fishery, which is owned by The Who singer Roger Daltrey, for the 14th Annual District Fly Fishing Competition.
It was one of the few sunny days of the year which helped to make it enjoyable and relaxing, although the fishing was rather difficult. President of the Bromley club Adrian Lawrence and fellow member Peter Halligan won the shield for the heaviest combined bag weight of the day. Mr Halligan also won a prize for the largest fish. The Malling club team was a close second. The Chris Bone Memorial Shield was presented by president of the Sidcup club Roy Barlow. This was the first year Bromley Rotary Club had entered the competition. The date arranged for next year’s event is September 12 and all fly fishers, however inexperienced, should put the date in their diaries now to enjoy a day of fishing and fellowship.
To help Bromley hold on to this trophy, Rotarians can bring a non-Rotarian guest with them.
