FOR the second year running Danson Park has been judged London’s best park.
The 180-acre Grade II-Listed park in Danson Road, Welling, has just scooped the top prize in this year’s London in Bloom competition.
It beat Coombe Wood, Croydon, and Cleary Garden in the City into second and third places, respectively.
This was one of three awards picked up by Bexley at a ceremony, held at the Honourable Artillery Company in the City. Bexley also won a silver gilt award in the city category, while Donald Lee, of Footscray Lane, Sidcup, was awarded third place in the best front garden category.
Bexley mayor Councillor Nick O’Hare joined London’s transport commissioner Peter Hendy and other mayors at the awards ceremony.
Councillor Gareth Bacon, Bexley’s cabinet member for the environment, said: “We are delighted with our two awards and I would like to congratulate Mr Lee on his well-deserved success.”
