SOUTH-EAST London’s annual Green Chain walking festival brought out the best of the autumn sunshine and more than 5,000 walkers.
The 10-day festival featured 10 guided walks along the 40 miles of the Green Chain, which links more than 300 open spaces across south-east London.
Three of Bexley’s open spaces featured in this year’s festival, with walks in Lesnes Abbey Woods, Erith Marshes and a night-time bat walk at East Wickham Open Space in Welling.
It proved popular with the public, with an average of more than 50 people on each walk.
A free pack with details of 10 short circular trails on the chain is available by calling 020 84617918 or emailing sarah.cummings@bromley.gov.uk
