A DARTFORD man was caught with a horrendous arsenal of weapons in the boot of his vehicle parked in the car park of supermarket chain Lidl.

Clint Sheperd, aged 24, of Wentworth Drive, Dartford, pleaded guilty at Bexley Magistrates court last week, to three charges of possessing an offensive weapon.

Police had found a bag with 55 offensive weapons, including 12 blade-concealing pens, in the boot of his car.

Police were called to the car park of supermarket chain Lidl's distribution depot in Crabtree Manorway North, in Belvedere, on April 19.

They were responding to reports of a man armed with a knuckleduster seen standing by a car.

When the police arrived at the unattended car, Shepherd came out of the depot and admitted to being the owner.

After searching him, police searched his car. In the pocket of the driver's door they found a spring-loaded cosh.

When they opened the boot, they found a black bag contai-ning three boxed lock knives, nine plastic knives, five sheath knives, 12 blade-concealing pens, three butterfly knives, five leaf knives, eight lock knives, one knuckle duster, five flick knives, two Cobra assault knives and two combat knives.

When Shephard was arrested, he told the police he had bought all the weapons in Spain and had hoped to sell them.

When he appeared at Bexley Magistrates Court, Sheperd admitted possessing a Cobra assault knife, possessing a blade or point and possessing a butterfly knife for sale or hire.

Magistrates remanded him on bail to Croydon Crown Court for sentencing, where the judge may also order the forfeiture or confiscation of all the weapons found.

If an order is made, the weapons will be destroyed by the police.
