A 33-year-old man has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after an assault near Catford Shopping Centre.
Police were called to Rushey Green at around 2.40am today (November 26) after reports of an assault.
Officers attended and the man was treated at the scene before he was taken to hospital a short time later.
His injuries are believed to be potentially life-changing, the Metropolitan Police said.
While no arrests have been made, a cordon was in place which shut a handful of shops around Rushey Green and Winslade Way.
The cordon was in place for over 10 hours while forensics gathered evidence, but it has since been lifted.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police responded to a report of an assault in Rushey Greene, SE6 on Tuesday, 26 November at around 02:40hrs.
“Officers attended and provided care to a 33-year-old man at the scene before taking him to hospital a short time later.
“His injuries have been assessed as potentially life changing.
“No arrests have been made at this early stage of the investigation.
“An investigation is underway. A police cordon that was set up while forensics were gathered has now been removed.”
