A man in his 50s has died after a multi-vehicle crash on the M2 in Kent.

Kent Police were called shortly after 8pm on Wednesday (November 20) to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and several vehicles on the coastbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 6.

Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway.

Police are urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538, quoting reference XX/SL/111/24.

"Anyone who saw what happened, including the pedestrian or vehicles prior to the incident, or who may have dashcam footage, should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit," a Kent Police spokesperson said.

Investigators are also keen to hear from motorists who may have driven through the scene before emergency services arrived.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Witnesses and dashcam footage are sought by officers investigating a fatal collision near Faversham.

“Kent Police was called shortly after 8pm on Wednesday 20 November 2024, to a collision involving a pedestrian and a number of vehicles on the coastbound carriageway of the M2 motorway, between junctions 5 and 6.

“Patrols and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and a man in his 50s was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

“An investigation into the circumstances is underway. Anyone who saw what happened, including seeing the pedestrian or vehicles prior to the incident, or who may have dashcam footage, should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
