Four south east London restaurants have won big at this year's Asian Curry Awards 2024.
Four restaurants - iNaga in Bromley, The Bombay in Orpington and Panas Gurkha in Blackheath and Welling - won at the Asian Curry Awards 2024.
The awards, known as the Curry Oscars celebrate the best of Asian fare, with cuisine ranging across sixteen Asian countries from Bangladeshi and Filipino to Indian and Chinese food.
This year's finalists were chosen from a shortlist of over 200 restaurants and takeaways, and voted for by the spice-loving public.
The awards, which took place on November 17, crowned the winners across 75 awards, celebrating the best of the UK’s Asian food.
Here are all of this year's Asian Curry Awards 2024 winners in south east London and why they won:
Asian Restaurant of The Year, London Suburbs - iNaga, Bromley
West Wickham-based iNaga serves up a menu of traditional Bangladeshi dishes created by award-winning chef Nanu Miah.
The business has won many awards over the years including ‘Best Chef’ at the Asian Curry Awards 2023.
Casual Dining Restaurant of The Year, London Suburbs - The Bombay, Orpington
The Bombay has been a longstanding restaurant in Orpington for four decades since opening in 1984, with a second branch set to open in Swanley, run by brothers Kobir, Shah and Mj Hussain.
Indian fare, with their most popular meals being tandoori and masala dishes.
The restaurant serves traditionalThey also offer four unique dining spaces, including a jungle-inspired area for families and a more formal area for events and parties.
Nepalese Restaurant of The Year, London - Panas Gurkha, Blackheath
Panas Gurkha first opened its Lewisham branch over 15 years ago and serves homestyle Nepali cuisine to diners, with their most popular dish being their Mum’s Chicken Curry, inspired by a recipe made by restaurant owner Sujan Katuwal’s mother.
The restaurant serves authentic Nepalese cuisine made by Michelin Star-trained head chef Ram Paudal and has played host to famous celebrities like Joanna Lumley.
Newcomer of The Year, South East London, Nepalese & Indian - Panas Gurkha Falconwood, Welling
Panas Gurkha won big at the awards this year, taking home two accolades, with the second for Newcomer of the Year at their new Falconwood restaurant.
The restaurant marks the third the business has opened in south east London, with a further two in Blackheath and Chislehurst.
