A fire at a block of flats in Southwark has destroyed furniture in a communal area.
Firefighters tackled the blaze on Thurlow Street just before 9pm last night (November 19).
The fire broke out in a communal area on the 11th floor of the 14-storey building, destroying a sofa.
Crews from Old Kent Road, Peckham, Dockhead, Lambeth, Bethnal Green, Brixton, Soho, and Paddington fire stations were mobilised to the scene.
The fire was brought under control by 10.20pm.
It is currently unclear whether any injuries were reported.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said: "Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Thurlow Street in Southwark this evening.
"A sofa in a communal area on the 11th floor of the 14 storey block of flats was destroyed by fire.
The Brigade's 999 Control centre took their first call alerting them to the fire at 8.55pm and the fire was under control at 10.20pm.
"Control mobilised crews from Old Kent Road, Peckham, Dockhead, Lambeth, Bethnal Green, Brixton, Soho and Paddington fire stations."
