Lewisham Shopping Centre has announced the return of its Giving Tree to support children and young people.

Collaborating with local organisations Bank of Things and The Salvation Army, the initiative invites guests to choose a tag from the tree, detailing the child they will buy a gift for.

The donations, which can include thoughtful gifts such as books, toys, or craft packs, can be made until January 2.

Paul Redden, centre director at Lewisham Shopping Centre, said: "The festive season is a time of togetherness and community, where everyone deserves to feel loved and cared for, which is why we’re focusing on giving back to those in need with the return of The Giving Tree at Lewisham Shopping Centre.

"We know that our charity drives are always met with the utmost generosity from our guests who can spare an extra gift, and we’re sure the thoughtful donations made will mean so much to those who need it most, ensuring they can open a present on Christmas Day."

The return of The Giving Tree coincides with the recent unveiling of Lewisham Shopping Centre’s new Christmas decorations.

Named 'The Floating Forest', the decorations feature 14 recycled Christmas trees, gold baubles, and more than 1,115 metres of twinkling lights.

The centre will also come alive with the sound of festive music throughout December, with performances from choirs and musical ensembles, including The Rock Choir, Sonnet Wind Orchestra, and local primary and secondary schools.

Additionally, visitors can explore cultural gifts at Wakuda's market, featuring candles, handmade jewellery, and greeting cards from independent African and Caribbean brands.

To simplify Christmas shopping, a gift-wrapping station will be available on December 20 and 21, offering free gift wrapping for customers who spend over £50.
