Dick Whittington is set to arrive in Greenwich with his band of friends for this year's festive pantomime.
With panto season soon approaching, theatres across south east London are getting geared up to entertain audiences young and old.
Greenwich Theatre has announced that this year's pantomime for Christmas 2024 will be a musical production of Dick Whittington, starting from November 22.
Written by Anthony Spargo, with musical direction by Steve Markwick and directed by James Haddrell, this family favourite tells the story of Dick Whittington and his cat as they journey to London to seek their fortune.
Headlining at this year's panto is former Newsies star Samuel Bailey as Dick Whittington, along with Jasmine Jules Andrews as Alice Fitzwarren.
The lineup also includes Anthony Spargo as Ratticous, Louise Cielecki as Muffy Mouse, Paul Kemble as Alderman Fitzwarren, Inés Ruiz as Tommie the Cat, and Phil Yarrow as Meggs the Baker.
This year's performance will see actors Archie Fearon, Nabi Brown and Annabelle Lane in their professional debuts at the Greenwich Theatre, as part of its continuing partnership with Trinity Laban Conservatoire of music and Dance.
The show will be a musical telling of the story of Dick Whittington, as he and his band of friends journey through London on his quest to win the love of Alice Fitzwarren and become the Mayor of London.
The set will be designed by Offie Award-winning design team Emily Bestow, along with lighting by Henry Slater and sound by Liam McDermott, and West End and Broadway animator Hannah Schlenker (known for Spitting Image Live – Idiots Assemble).
Greenwich Theatre pantomime has sold more tickets year on year, thanks to a loyal following and new audiences attracted by its exceptional reputation – and we look forward to welcoming them all this year.
Director James Haddrell said: “Over the past decade, the“We are delighted to bring together an exciting cast, with talent from across the West End and the UK touring circuit joining Greenwich regulars Anthony Spargo and Louise Cielecki.
“Following the tradition of previous years, our panto will transform a much-loved tale into something entirely new, with a host of unforgettable plot twists and West End quality music.”
Dick Whittington will run at Greenwich Theatre from November 22 to January 5, with tickets starting at £16.50 for children and £32 for adults.
