Police in Kent have resorted to using drones as part of an investigation after cars have been damaged in multiple 'targeted' incidents on two main roads.

The drones will be flown along the A2 near Darenth and over the M20 in Snodland, after objects were fired at vehicles on both stretches of road at around 5.50pm on November 7.

Road users reported "being targeted" whilst on their journeys.

Attending officers who responded to reports discovered that windows and the bodywork on several vehicles had been damaged in the incidents.

Chf Insp Craig West said: "Throwing or firing items at moving traffic is incredibly dangerous and it is fortunate nobody was injured as a result of either of these incidents.

"Anyone found to have been responsible for putting road users in danger can expect to be arrested and brought before the courts.

"I would like to assure motorists that we are taking the reports seriously and have increased our patrols in the areas surrounding the affected sections of the A2 and M20."

The drones are equipped with thermal imaging cameras that are being used to monitor footpaths and wooded areas.
