Three south east London fish and chip shops have been honoured in this year’s Good Food Awards for their exceptional quality, service, and customer satisfaction.
These chippies have each received recognition for their dedication to serving delicious, well-prepared meals, with two earning the esteemed Blue Ribbon and one securing the prestigious Gold Seal.
These awards highlight the popularity of these local chippies, which continue to serve up beloved British fish and chips with a dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.
Here are the list of winners:
Brockley’s Rock, Brockley – Gold Seal
Brockley’s Rock, located on Brockley Road, has won the Gold Seal in the 2024/25 Good Food Awards, an honour awarded only to those who maintain exceptional customer ratings and votes over three years.
Known for its fresh, cooked-to-order fish and chips, Brockley’s Rock is celebrated as one of the top 60 chip shops in the UK.
The restaurant caters to a range of dietary needs, offering gluten-free options from Sunday to Thursday, prepared with separate equipment to ensure safety and quality.
It provides grilled options, perfect for a lighter meal, earning the Brockley chippy a devoted customer following.
A Google review reads: “After reviewing several fish and chips venues, I found the bar has now been reset.
“The fish was light and flakey. The batter light and not greasy. Tartar sauce is home made and the best I've had.
“We also tried the calamari, which was large, tasty, and not at all chewy.
“Kyriakis and Sotiris are friendly and informative as the different dish types were explained.”
The Anchor in Bexley – Blue Ribbon
The Anchor in Bexley has been awarded the Good Food Award’s Blue Ribbon for its exceptional fish and chips and consistent high ratings from customers.
Located on Steynton Avenue, the Anchor has enjoyed a stellar year, earning accolades from the England Business Awards and a place among the UK’s top five Best Newcomer Fish and Chip Shops.
Known for its creative offerings, the shop even introduced a 24k golden cod, taking inspiration from celebrity chef Salt Bae.
This unique twist, alongside traditional fare, has helped make the Anchor one of Bexley’s most talked-about chippies.
A Google review reads: “I love the Anchor! The fish is fresh, cooked to perfection with a light, crispy batter that is simply divine.
“The chips are amazing, golden and fluffy, just as they should be. It's clear they don't recycle the frying oil, as every bite tastes clean and delicious.
“Today my mother and I tried the cod burger, which was a delightful twist on a classic. The flavour was outstanding, and the portion was generous (to say the least!).
“ To top it off, the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming.
“The Cypriot gentleman who works there was especially kind, making our visit feel all the more special. If you’re looking for top-notch fish and chips, look no further.”

Crispy Cod in Orpington, located on High Street, has also earned the Blue Ribbon award this year.
This honour recognises the team’s commitment to providing high-quality food and outstanding service, with regular patrons praising the Crispy Cod for its tasty and freshly prepared meals.

“I’ve lived nearby for many years but never tried them. This is far the best I know for miles around. First place I visit when back from holiday.
“Takaway sit in and delivery service available.
“Called in again with a friend same amazing quality quantity.”
