Police have issued an update following the discovery of “human remains and bones” in Thamesmead.
An investigation was launched after suspected remains were found in a wooded area near Sewell Road on November 6.
Multiple cordons were put in place while forensic officers examined the possible remains.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police confirmed today (November 9) that there is no evidence to suggest the death is suspicious.
All cordons have since been lifted and police enquiries remain ongoing.
The full Metropolitan Police statement says: “Police were called at 12.36pm on Wednesday, 6 November, to reports of suspected human remains found in a wooded area near to Sewell Road, Thamesmead.
“Cordons were in place while police responded. These have now been lifted.
“Enquiries are ongoing. At this stage, there is no evidence to suggest the death is suspicious.”
