There’s nothing like an annual Christmas light switch on event to get you in the mood for the festive season.
With Oxford Street’s lights already turned on and plenty more streets in London to follow, the capital will soon be lit up like a Christmas tree.
But if you don’t fancy a trip to busy Central London, there are plenty of Christmas light switch on events happening this month as the countdown to Christmas begins.
We’ve rounded up all the Christmas light switch ons happening in south east London and what you need to know:
Bexleyheath’s Christmas Light Switch On
When? Saturday, November 16 between 11am and 5:15pm
Where? Bexleyheath Clock Tower, Broadway, Bexleyheath, DA7 4JB
Kickstarting the festivities off in Bexley, locals can watch the annual switch on of the Christmas lights at Bexleyheath’s Town Centre.
During the evening you’ll have a chance to meet the man in red himself, with festivities kicking off early at 11am, featuring guest appearances from Made in Kent Radio, live music and choir performances to get you in the festive spirit.
Dartford Big Christmas Switch On
When? Saturday, November 16 between 12pm and 7pm
Where? Brewery Square, Market Street, Dartford, DA1 1EY
Over in Dartford, this year’s Christmas lights switch on will be attended by Britain's Got Talent star Sydnie Christmas, who is also starring in this year's panto at Dartford’s Orchard West Theatre.
Also joining this year's event is Milkshake presenter David Ribi, who will be hosting a giveaway during the day.
You’ll also be able to shop at the festive market on the high street, which will also be accompanied by festive music to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Bromley Christmas Light Switch On
When? Sunday, November 17 at 12pm
Where? Glades and Market Square
Moving over to Bromley, this popular light switch on is set to take place on Sunday, November 17 with a light switch on at midday in The Glades, which will be accompanied by performances from local schools and musicians.
The lights will be turned on by this year's winner of the Local Hero Competition, and with Bromley’s popular Bavarian-inspired Christmas market returning this year it makes for a great day out to kick start the Christmas shopping.
Greenwich Market Lantern Parade & Christmas Lights Up
When? Wednesday, November 20 between 4pm and 6:15pm
Where? Old Royal Naval College, Cutty Sark Gardens & Greenwich Market
This popular event will welcome the beginning of the festive season with a colourful lantern parade around the Cutty Sark, followed by the lights switch on, where Greenwich Market will be illuminated with Christmas lights.
The lantern parade will feature local schools and their handmade creations in a colourful procession, starting at the Old Royal Naval College at 4pm, before heading towards the landmark Cutty Sark ship.
Alongside the lights switch on at the market, local traders, food vendors and artisans will also be selling their wares for locals to have a chance to shop for Christmas gifts.
Hayes Christmas Lights Switch On
When? Saturday, November 23 at 3pm
Where? The Craft Beer Rooms, 6 Bourne Way, Hayes, Bromley, BR2 7EY
Finally, Hayes’ Christmas Lights switch on will be taking at The Craft Beer Rooms, with activities and an outside bar if you fancy getting a drink whilst you wait for the main event.
