A man is in hospital after cars were set alight in the garage of a seven-storey flat block in Bromley

Firefighters from stations across Bromley, Lee Green, Woodside were dispatched to Ringers Road at 8.26am this morning. 

The brigade's control centre took five calls reporting the incident. 

The fire was located in a ground floor car park beneath the flat block where three vehicles were found to be alight.

Smoke from the flames had travelled from the car park to the building, with residents advised to keep their windows and doors shut. 

Social media users took to X to share pictures of the smoke in the air surrounding Bromley's town centre. 

A man was found in need of assistance at the scene where he was treated by paramedics before taking himself to hospital.

The fire was brought under control by 10.18am. 

Temporary road closures put in place on Ringers Road and Ravensbourne Road have since been lifted. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
